About Mozzwise

Mozzwise is an editorial mosquito-intelligence publisher built around a simple question: are there mosquitoes here, and how bad is it? We answer that for 105 countries using source-cited data from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, and the OpenDengue research consortium.

What Mozzwise is

Mozzwise is a publisher, not a clinic. We aggregate, structure, and present mosquito-borne disease information that public health agencies already publish — making it easier to find for travelers, expats, and parents who need a clear answer about a specific destination, season, or species.

Every health claim on the site is attributed to its source, and every page that discusses health risk carries a disclaimer that personal decisions on repellents, vaccinations, or medication belong with a qualified travel health professional. We never sell that advice; we report what authorities recommend.

What we publish

  • Country briefings for 105+ destinations covering seasonality, regional risk, vector species, and disease presence.
  • Disease intelligence pages for the major mosquito-borne diseases including dengue, malaria, Zika, chikungunya, yellow fever, West Nile, Japanese encephalitis, lymphatic filariasis, and St. Louis encephalitis.
  • Species profiles for the world's most epidemiologically important mosquito vectors.
  • Practical travel-prep guides on repellents, treated clothing, mosquito nets, family protection, and bite treatment.
  • An interactive global risk map with monthly resolution.

What we explicitly do not do

  • We do not give personal medical advice, diagnoses, prescriptions, or vaccination recommendations.
  • We do not name specific clinics, doctors, or pharmacies.
  • We do not replace consultation with a qualified travel health professional or your GP.
  • We do not run ads on health-content pages; the only paid placement is clearly-disclosed Amazon Associates affiliate links on travel guides.

Editorial principles

Three rules govern everything Mozzwise publishes:

  1. Honesty over precision. A correct vague statement beats a wrong specific one. We use hedges and source attribution rather than fabricating numbers.
  2. Report, do not advise. “CDC recommends” and “WHO advises” — never “you should take.”
  3. Sourced, not assertive. Every factual claim about risk, seasonality, or disease presence traces to WHO, CDC, ECDC, peer-reviewed literature, or our own labelled climatological modelling.

Read the full editorial standards and methodology for how we apply them.

Who we are

Mozzwise is built and operated by a small editorial team focused on mosquito-borne disease data. The site is independent and not affiliated with any government agency, public health body, or pharmaceutical company.

How we are funded

Mozzwise is reader-supported through Amazon Associates affiliate commissions on travel-prep product recommendations in our guides. Affiliate links are clearly labelled and do not influence which products we recommend or how we describe them.

We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, do not run sponsored content on health pages, and do not allow advertisers to influence content.
