Republic of Congo
Overall Risk: Low

The Republic of Congo has year-round mosquito activity in its equatorial climate, with peak risk during the main rainy season from October through December and March through May. The Congo River basin, the forested north, and the Pool region around Brazzaville carry the highest malaria burden.

Malaria (P. falciparum and P. vivax) is the primary concern throughout the country. Yellow fever is endemic. Chikungunya is also present. The dense equatorial forest and extensive river systems provide ideal mosquito breeding habitat.

Anopheles gambiae is the dominant malaria vector. Aedes aegypti transmits yellow fever and chikungunya. The equatorial climate maintains consistently high mosquito density throughout the year.
