Paraguay
Overall Risk: Low

Paraguay has peak mosquito activity during the hot, wet summer months from October through April. The Chaco region in the west and the eastern departments including the capital Asuncion carry significant risk. The subtropical climate supports robust mosquito breeding during the warm season.

Dengue fever is the primary concern, with high-level outbreaks in recent years. Chikungunya, Zika, and yellow fever are also present. Paraguay has largely eliminated malaria transmission.

Aedes aegypti is the dominant vector in urban and suburban areas, thriving in Asuncions residential neighborhoods. The subtropical climate and summer rainfall create ideal Aedes breeding conditions.

Wear light-colored, long-sleeve clothing at dawn and dusk
