Mozzwise Briefing

Grenada
Overall Risk: Low

Grenada has year-round mosquito activity, with peak risk during the rainy season from June through December. The main island of Grenada and Carriacou both carry risk, with lower-lying coastal areas and agricultural zones having higher exposure.

Dengue fever is the primary concern, with moderate activity. Grenada has no malaria transmission. The small population and island setting limit the scale of outbreaks, but periodic dengue surges do occur.

Aedes aegypti is the dominant vector, breeding in domestic water containers and other artificial habitats. The tropical humidity and regular rainfall maintain suitable breeding conditions throughout the wet season.

Precautions

Use DEET (20%+) or Picaridin-based repellent on exposed skin
Wear light-colored, long-sleeve clothing at dawn and dusk
Sleep under a permethrin-treated mosquito net if no air conditioning
Eliminate standing water near your accommodation
Keep windows and doors closed or screened
Consider antimalarial prophylaxis if malaria is present — consult your doctor
