Saint Vincent
Overall Risk: Low

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has year-round mosquito activity, with peak risk during the wet season from June through December. The main island of Saint Vincent, particularly the Kingstown area and windward coast, carries the highest risk. The smaller Grenadine islands may have lower mosquito density.

Dengue fever is the primary concern, with moderate activity. The islands have no malaria transmission. The string of smaller islands that make up the Grenadines experience variable risk depending on rainfall and proximity to standing water.

Aedes aegypti is the dominant vector in populated areas. The volcanic terrain on Saint Vincent creates varied microclimates, with humid leeward areas supporting higher mosquito populations.

Precautions

Use DEET (20%+) or Picaridin-based repellent on exposed skin
Wear light-colored, long-sleeve clothing at dawn and dusk
Sleep under a permethrin-treated mosquito net if no air conditioning
Eliminate standing water near your accommodation
Keep windows and doors closed or screened
Consider antimalarial prophylaxis if malaria is present — consult your doctor
