Mozzwise Briefing

Ukraine
Overall Risk: Low

Ukraine has seasonal mosquito activity from May through September, with peak populations during the summer months. The Danube Delta region, the Dnieper River floodplains, and the Black Sea coastal areas have the highest mosquito density. The Carpathian highlands have lower activity.

West Nile virus is the primary mosquito-borne disease concern, with periodic circulation in the south. Overall mosquito-borne disease risk is low. The temperate continental climate limits the active mosquito season.

Culex pipiens is the dominant species. The extensive river systems and Black Sea coast support seasonal mosquito populations in the south and central regions.
